Online Safety

Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at St Michael’s. We have extensive security measures in place in school which are monitored by school staff and our external providers. These help safeguard pupils from any potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any incidents that occur are recorded and investigated.

Children are taught how to keep safe online in a variety of ways as part of their computing lessons and more generally across the curriculum. Being online is an integral part of children's lives. Social media, online games, websites and apps can be accessed through mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

Online Safety Newsletters

We know how important it is for parents and carers to be aware of technology. Each term we release an online safety newsletter. You can find our latest update here regarding online safety at home and in school.

CEOP Safety Centre

CEOP is part of the National Crime Agency. They are here to help you if you are a young person and you or your friend (up to age 18) has been forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity with anyone online, or in the real world.

CEOP has been developed for children and young people and is offered as a convenient and potentially less intimidating method of reporting these sensitive types of crime, alternative to face-to-face and telephone reporting to local police forces. CEOP takes all reports seriously and children of all ages can use the link below. The reporting form is designed to be as easy to use as possible by children, but it is recommend that they ask and adult they trust to help them make a report.

Online Bullying

If you are experiencing online bullying or something else online has worried you please speak to an adult you trust. You can also talk to Childline at any time by using a telephone to call 0800 1111. Childline is here to help anyone under 19 in the UK with any issue they’re going through. You can talk about anything. Whether it’s something big or small, their trained counsellors are here to support you.
